The 20th anniversary of the Teixar Vi de Finca Qualificada de Vinyes de Domènech recently welcomed a group of MW and international professionals to a pre-tasting, which took place at the emblematic Queviures Serra venue in Barcelona. The team was coordinated by Ferran Centelles and Pedro Ballesteros MW accompanied by Sarah Jane Eva MW, Beth Willard, and by Vinyes Domènech, Edgar and Joan Ignasi Domènech. The pre-tasting was a preview of the inaugural event that will be held on March 18 at the Botanical Institute of Barcelona with a vertical tasting of the vintages. The objective of the event was to select the most representative vintages in the different weather conditions and the influence of winemaking practices.
The day was a reflection of the work of vineyards committed to a project that expresses the landscape and biodiversity of the environment. According to Joan Ignasi Domènech, “it was exciting, since the quality of life of each vintage met the expectations of opening twenty-year-old bottles of Garnatxa Peluda that conveyed the identity of the biodiversity of Vinyes Domènech”. The reason for this legendary selection is to share it and enjoy it with the people who have been part of our project.”
During 2024, Vinyes Domènech has scheduled different commemorative events for the 20th anniversary of its Qualified Estate Wine. Teixar de Vinyes Domènech is the first wine from the DO Montsant, the fourth in Catalonia and the first single-varietal Grenache Peluda that INCAVI grants the qualification of “Qualified Estate Wine”. It is a recognition that distinguishes the unique climatic characteristics, the grape wines from the same estate owned and that follow the production protocols and the most demanding production yields by the DO, in addition to a national and international prestige of more than ten years.
